Qualification: MA Personnel & Development, BA (hons) Business Studies, NVQ Level 3 Diploma.

Lucy is the daughter of the original founders of Rainbow Corner Nursery School - Jacqui and Geoff Scott. Lucy acquired the family business in April 2013, although the nursery school has always been a big part of her life. Prior to this Lucy completed a four year Business Studies degree at the University of Portsmouth, specialising in Human Resources.

Once graduated, Lucy worked as an HR Consultant for both the BBC and Orange Business Services in London, during which time she gained a Masters in Personnel and Development at the University of Westminster and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). In 2010 Lucy had her son, Elliot. Being a parent herself and understanding the importance of good quality childcare, she naturally became more involved in the family business. She has since completed her NVQ Level 3 Diploma for the children and young people's workforce.

Qualification: BA (Hons) in Education and Training Studies (NVQ 6). Currently studying at the University of Portsmouth for her Early Years Teacher Status.

Emma has dedicated her adulthood to working with and supporting children to learn and develop within a childcare setting. Since starting her career in childcare she has made every effort to further educate herself, gaining a level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 NVQ in Childcare as well as an NVQ Level 2 in Team Leading and is now currently studying towards her Early Years Teachers Status at the University of Portsmouth.

In 2017 Emma had her daughter Kyla and had her second child in July 2018.

Kath works part-time in the office supporting both Lucy and Emma. Prior to joining Rainbow Corner, Kath had held a number of Receptionist and Administrative positions.

Qualification: NVQ Level 4, NNEB, NVQ Assessor and NVQ Verifier

Start Date: March 1996

On returning to the UK, Clare worked for two families as a nanny before joining Rainbow Corner. Since joining the nursery, Clare has continued with her studies gaining an NVQ Assessor and Verifiers award and an NVQ level 4 in Childcare and Management.

Qualification: NVQ Level 3 Diploma

Start Date: September 1994

Linda has been a long serving member of staff, joining 10 years after the school was first established and growing and changing with us as the needs of the business have evolved. Linda has a wealth of experience across the whole EYFS spectrum and of working with our pre-school age children. Linda works extremely hard with both the children and parents to ensure the children have all the skills they will require when they transition to infant school. Alongside the Manager, Linda assists with the induction of new members of staff and students and assists with in-house training. Linda has a son and is also a very proud grandparent.

Carla has two children and works for us part-time. She too has a vast amount of experience working with all age groups within the nursery, having worked with us for a number of years.

Start Date: December 2012

Sally has worked at Rainbow Corner for 2 Years and has worked with children aged from 0-4 years old. Sally is qualified NVQ 3 in childcare. Prior to this Sally worked as an agency worker in a variety of childcare settings within the city of Portsmouth.

Start Date: May 2016

Abbie joined us in May 2016 to undertake her 12 month apprenticeship. After successful completion of this, Abbie accepted a permanent position as a Nursery Practitioner. During her time with us, Abbie has gained experience of working with all age groups, in particular the toddler room. Abbie is looking forward to the extra responsibilities and challenges she will now gain as a qualified member of staff.

Qualification: NCFE Level 3 Diploma

Start Date: April 2017

Having completed her GSCE’s and a BTEC in Musical theatre, Molly joined us to undertake her childcare qualification. During her 18 month apprenticeship with us, Molly gained experience of working in every area of the nursery. Molly successfully completed her Level 3 Diploma in August 2018 and joined us a permanent member of the team.

Qualification: NCFE Level 3 Diploma

Start Date: February 2019

Ellen joins us a qualified practitioner with 20 years’ experience. Ellen has previously held posts as a Teaching Assistant and Community Nursery Nurse and more recently a Senior Nursery Practitioner. Ellen also holds a NVQ Level 3 in Management and has worked as a Trainee Nursery Manager.

Following successful completion of her childcare apprenticeship, Macie was employed at a qualified nursery practitioner. During her time with us, she gained experience of working with children of all ages and has become a valued member of the team.

Start Date: January 2019

Grace began her career in the food & hospitality industry, working her way up to Kitchen Manager. Grace, who had always wanted to work with children, then pursued her dream by undertaking a childcare apprenticeship with us. Following her successful competition of this qualification, she remained with us a qualified nursery practitioner.



In addition to our permanent members of staff we have a number of apprentices working with us to gain practical experience whilst working towards their formal childcare qualifications. We also have a number of bank staff, who are employed and vetted by us to cover lunches, staff sickness, training and annual leave. Most of our bank staff are recruited from the University of Portsmouth where they are currently studying towards a childcare related degree.
