Core Values

Our core values that we encourage children to demonstrate and develop on a day-to-day basis are:

  • Respect
  • Resilience
  • Confidence
  • Kindness
  • Inclusiveness
  • Aspiration

In order to support children in demonstrating these core values, we have our very own value heroes that we use, in having discussions with children, encouraging children, and praising children. Let’s meet them………

Aspiration

This is Aspirational Ali, our value hero for Aspiration. The children at Rainbow Corner are inspired by Ali to believe in their own abilities, develop their self-esteem, set and achieve challenging goals and be motivated by their successes. We teach the children about:

  • Growth Mindset. Knowing that intelligence can be grown by embracing challenge. They see effort as a path to mastery and learn from criticism and advice. They find inspiration in the success of others.
  • Meta-learning. Knowing how they learn as individuals and how to challenge themselves.
  • Self-efficacy. Believing in their own abilities. They view challenging problems as tasks to be mastered. They develop a deeper interest in the activities in which they participate and form a stronger sense of commitment to their interests and activities. As a result, they recover quickly from setbacks and disappointments.
