Funded Early Education

Funding is available for all 3 and 4 year olds (from the term after their 3rd birthday until they attend school) and for eligible two year olds (from the term after their 2nd birthday until they are eligible for the universal three year old entitlement). Children can access stretched funding only, of up to 11 hours per week of funding over 51 weeks of the year, or if entitled to additional hours, up to 22 hours a week over 51 weeks of the year. Unfortunately, we do not offer any term time only places for 15 or 30 hours per week over 38 weeks of the year due to being open all year round.

Stretched funding can be accessed provided that:

  • If a child attends over the lunch period 12pm-1pm or the tea period 5pm-6pm, the cost of the meals we provide is paid for by the parents/carers
  • A 4 week notice period is given to any previous nursery/ child-minder in which funding has been previously claimed
  • Parents/ Carers provide us with an additional hours code, or 2 year old funding code, before taking up their place
  • No more than 10 hours to be claimed per day
  • No less than 3 hours to be claimed per day
  • No funding claimed before 8:00am or after 6:00pm

Sharing Funding Between Settings

Funding can be split between a maximum of 2 settings providing that the maximum entitlement for the number of hours of funding is not exceeded between the two settings.

Benefits of the Stretched Offer to Parents

Children attending all year round for less than 15 hours per week can access all of their funding. It provides more consistent childcare costs for parents who pay for holiday care/additional hours.

Additional Funding

If both parents living within the household are working, you may be eligible for an additional 15 hours (11 stretched) per week.

An additional 15 hours of funded childcare on top of the universal 15 hours you will already receive. As a nursery we stretch this to a total of 22 hours a week for 51 weeks of the year.

When could my child start?

Additional hour codes are provided by the government to eligible families, before each term starts (January, April and September). As long as we have been given this code and relevant checks have been made, your child can start to claim these hours from the start of the following term. However, it is important that these codes are kept updated every three months. Failure to do so may result in your eligibility being withdrawn, making you liable for the nursery fees.
