Our Childcare Team

Nursery Owner

Qualification: MA Personnel & Development, BA (hons) Business Studies, NVQ Level 3 Diploma. Lucy is the daughter of the original founders of Rainbow Corner Nursery School - Jacqui and Geoff Scott. Lucy acquired the family business in April 2013, although the nursery school has always been a big part of her life. Prior to this Lucy completed a four year Business Studies degree at the University of Portsmouth, specialising in Human Resources. Once graduated, Lucy worked as an HR Consultant for both the BBC and Orange Business Services in London, during which time she gained a Masters in Personnel and Development at the University of Westminster and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). In 2010 Lucy had her son, Elliot. Being a parent herself and understanding the importance of good quality childcare, she naturally became more involved in the family business. She has since completed her NVQ Level 3 Diploma for the children and young people's workforce.

Manager

Kirsty has a vast amount of experience gained over the past 7 years since achieving her Level 2 Diploma at College. She then went on to complete her Level 3 Diploma as an apprentice in a nursery and worked her way up from Nursery Practitioner to Baby Room Leader. Promoted from Baby Room Leader to Manager in January 2024, Kirsty briefly left childcare for Social Care; however, she really missed the early years and is pleased to be back doing what she loves.

Deputy Manager and SENCO

Clare joined Rainbow Corner in 1996 and was Manager until 2015 when she decided she wanted to get back in the rooms with the children. Clare is currently our Deputy Manager and SENCO. Clare has a real passion for childcare and holds an NVQ Level 4 in Children’s Learning and Education with an NNEB Diploma. Clare also holds additional roles within the nursery as she is one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) and also one of our Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinators (SENCo).

Room Leader

Sarah worked as a Nursery Practitioner for 5 years before moving overseas where she worked as a childminder and also a Nursery Practitioner abroad, taking on additional roles such as Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). Since returning to Portsmouth Sarah has worked for us, as a Nursery Practitioner and then in 2022 promoted to Room Leader. Sarah also has two children. She takes pride in providing best practice, as well as making sure everything we do is child centred. She is also a huge advocate of the ‘curiosity approach’ using natural resources in every day practice.

Nursery Practitioner

Grace joined Rainbow Corner in 2019 and qualified a year later with her NVQ Level 3 in Childcare. She was promoted to Deputy Room Leader of the Ladybird class in March 2022, and has since gained the additional roles of Deputy SENCO and Mental Health First Aider. Grace is very passionate about empowering children's confidence and independence, getting outside at every opportunity and encouraging positive relationships.

Room Leader

Alicja has worked as a Teacher since 2012, both in Poland and England. She has also spent time as a nanny, so has a huge amount of experience of working with children. Alicja has a Master’s Degree in English Philosophy and a Diploma in English as a Second Language. Alicja’s speaks Polish and English and often sings songs to the children in both languages.

Room Leader

Sally joined Rainbow Corner in December 2012 and is NVQ Level 3 qualified. Being a long-standing member of our team, Sally takes great pride in encouraging and challenging the children’s learning and development including their physical abilities. Sally also leads the children’s Makaton activities within the setting.

Carla joined us in 2002 as a Nursery Practitioner. Carla has since had 2 children of her own and now works part time as our Nursery Lunch Assistant. Carla has a wealth of experience with all age groups and has watched the nursery grow and develop over the years.

Deputy Room Leader

Shelley joined us in 2023 after working in a pack away nursery for 7 years. Shelley completed her NVQ Level 3 at the beginning of last year ensuring she was fully qualified to practitioner level. Shelley loves building new relationships with children and their families and ensuring we work together in supporting children's development.

Deputy Room Leader

Evie has been with us since September 2022, she has recently completed her level 2 childcare qualification. Evie was previously a key worker in the Ladybird class, however is now a key worker in the Pre-school room. The children love making bracelets with Evie and playing hairdressers! Evie is now going through her Level 3 qualification

Nursery Practitioner

Jess started with us in September 2024 within the Grasshopper class, Jess has been working in childcare for 10+ years and previously worked as Baby room leader in a previous setting. Jess is level 3 nursery practitioner and also has her level 2 SENCO accreditation. She enjoys sensory play and singing nursery rhymes to the children.

Deputy Room Leader

Emily has been a part of the Rainbow corner family since May 2022, Emily joined us an apprentice and has recently completed her Level 3 qualification in childcare. Emily has worked within the Butterfly class and is now a key worker within the Grasshopper class. Emily loves creating fun and engaging environments for the children to explore and watching them grow and learn.

Nursery Practitioner

Anisa has recently joined us in September, she is currently working within the Ladybird class. Anisa is level 6 qualified in childcare after recently finishing university in Bath. Anisa enjoys creating role play experiences and watching the children's personalities flourish!

Nursery Practitioner

Lylee - May joined us July 2024 as a nursery apprentice working on her Level 3. Lylee has lots of experience working within the different age groups however has found her passion working in the Grasshopper class supporting the babies reach their developmental milestones! Lylee flew through her apprenticeship and completed it with a Distinction and also gained an award from the Apprenticeship provider for 'Star Apprentice'

SEN Support

Mia joined us in November 2025 as SEN Support for a little one within the setting. Mia works closely with the SENCO to ensure she is implementing IEP's and liasing with outside agencies to offer the best care and support for the children in our care. Mia has a wealth of knowledge and experience as has gained her BA Honours in Special needs and Disability and has also completed Portage workshops. We are very excited to have Mia onboard with us supporting the children's needs and development.
