Our aim is to support parents in their essential role. We do this by involving parents in all aspects of their child’s welfare, learning and development. At Rainbow Corner we very much operate an ‘open door’ policy and parents are given information on a regular basis about their child’s progress and have an opportunity to discuss this with their Key person.
We also welcome the contributions of parents, in whatever form this may take. For example…
We recently had a ‘parents crafts session’, where all parents were invited to the nursery to participate in a number of fun and exciting craft activities, such as gluing and sticking, painting and making decorations.
We provide a parents welcome area where we share any relevant information and distribute local magazines, local events, news, leaflets and general information.
Parents are also sent newsletters every 2-3 weeks via email, containing any nursery updates, relevant information and also details of the activities each group will be taking part in during the following week, with ideas on supporting children’s learning at home.
When a child first joins the nursery we work with you to ensure they are fully settled and happy. Parents' initial visit with their child is to discuss the child's specific needs and routine. An 'All About Me' record is completed with the key worker and parent, this is to establish a sound knowledge of the child's interests and current development.
We suggest the child has on average two to three settling in sessions, however, this is very much dependent on how well the child settles. Children moving between groups are given opportunities to make numerous visits, to ensure a smooth transition and to match the child with a suitable key worker.
Each child is given a key worker. This key worker is a member of staff from within the classroom and so that person will change as the child moves up through the nursery. The key worker is there to support the child, monitor and record their development and works very closely with the parents. Feedback is provided verbally on a daily basis to the parents in terms of how their child has been during the day, what they have enjoyed playing with, how well they have eaten, for example.
We use ParentAdmin (Downloadable App) to inform parents of their child’s Care Diary, Learning Journal and also Accidents and Incidents. The care diary informs parents of any food intake, nappy changes and sleep records for every session in which their child attends with us, we are also able to upload pictures just for that little bit of reassurance, especially when a child is with us for their very first time.
We track and monitor children’s development through focus weeks. Every child will become a focus child for 1-2 weeks (depending on how many sessions are attended by each individual child per week) and this will occur every 6-8 weeks. Before their focus week, the key person and parents will meet to discuss their child’s current development, any interests they may have, any changes within the family home or environment and any targets/ meetings carried out by other agencies such as Speech and Language therapists. This will enable the Key person and other staff within the child’s class to home in on where the child is currently working, and how they can best support the child in developing further, by enhancing their learning through identification of any teachable moments that may appear throughout the focus week and recording them. At the end of the child focus week, the key person and parents will meet again to discuss the progress made and the next steps their child will be focusing. This will be documented within the end of focus week assessment in which parents will have the opportunity to make comments and sign.
It is important to understand that although we only record teachable moments that happen during the child’s focus week, we are continuously supporting all children through teachable moments every single day, which ensures they are continuously being supported in enhancing their learning, we just don’t record it. We would rather spend time with the children, encouraging learning and supporting them individually, than sat in a corner writing and documenting everything. Children can actively show us and celebrate the achievements they make, without us writing it down and documenting it.

➢ Children have to attend a minimum of two, half day sessions or one full day per week
➢ We are closed for the public bank holidays and 3 days at Christmas. These days are still payable and are included in the fees structure above.
➢ We require a whole month’s notice for any changes to sessions or if a child leaves the nursery. In the case of a child being in receipt of the early education funding the notice period increases to a whole term.
➢ Fees are reviewed annually on 1st April
➢ A £150 non-refundable admission fee is required to secure a place.
➢ We offer funded places for 9 months, 2, 3 and 4-year old children, subject to availability.

Stretched Funding Monthly Fees – Universal Offer
Please note, these fees will apply as soon as your child becomes eligible for early years funding, i.e. the term after their 9th month (if eligible), 2nd (if eligible) or 3rd birthday. Fees are based on 570 hours funding entitlement per annum.
There is also a consumables charge of £7.50 per half day and £15 per full day.
Our hourly rate is £8.60.

Stretched Funding Monthly Fees – Extended Offer
Please note, these fees will apply as soon as your child becomes eligible for early years funding, i.e. the term after their 9th month (if eligible), 2nd (if eligible) or 3rd birthday. Fees are based on 1,140 hours funding entitlement per annum.
There is also a consumables charge of £7.50 per half day and £15 per full day.

Funding is available for all 3 and 4 year olds (from the term after their 3rd birthday until they attend school) and for eligible 9 month and two year olds (from the term after their 9th month or 2nd birthday until they are eligible for the universal three year old entitlement). Children can access stretched funding only, of up to 11 hours per week of funding over 52 weeks of the year, or if entitled to additional hours, up to 22 hours a week over 52 weeks of the year. Unfortunately, we do not offer any term time only places for 15 or 30 hours per week over 38 weeks of the year due to being open all year round. Stretched funding can be accessed provided that:

Children attending all year round for less than 15 hours per week can access all of their funding. It provides more consistent childcare costs for parents who pay for holiday care/additional hours.
If both parents living within the household are working, you may be eligible for an additional 15 hours (11 stretched) per week.
If your child is 2 years old and you’re in receipt of certain benefits- you may be entitled to some funded childcare!
If you're a working parent you can open an online account to pay for registered childcare. The government will top-up the money you pay into the account.
