About Our Nursery in Windlesham

This is Aspirational Ali, our value hero for Aspiration. The children at Rainbow Corner are inspired by Ali to believe in their own abilities, develop their self-esteem, set and achieve challenging goals and be motivated by their successes. We teach the children about: Growth Mindset. Knowing that intelligence can be grown by embracing challenge. They see effort as a path to mastery and learn from criticism and advice. They find inspiration in the success of others.

This is Confident Connie, our value hero for confidence. The children at Rainbow Corner work hard to be like Connie and explore, try new things, take responsibility, express own views and as a result grow in independence. We teach the children about: Meta-learning. Knowing how they learn as individuals and how to challenge themselves. Distilling. Using experiences and thinking about how they can help.

This is Determined Daisy, our Value hero for resilience. The children at our nursery school aspire to be like Daisy and show resilience in their learning and behaviour every day. Resilience means being ready, willing and able to lock onto learning. We teach the children about: Absorbing themselves in their learning. Managing distractions, whether this is in their environment or an emotional distraction. Noticing details in everything and having patience to wait and watch. Persevering and having the confidence to not give up when they are stuck or fail first time.

This is Inclusive Indi, our value hero for being Inclusive. The children at Rainbow Corner are inspired by Indi to celebrate diversity and treat everyone how they would expect to be treated. Everyone matters! We teach the children about: Empathy and listening. Valuing others. Collaboration, respect for others and learning to work with anyone as part of a team. Equality. Developing a deeper understanding of fairness, increasing tolerance and appreciation for diverse learners and an understanding of privilege. Celebrating diversity. By interacting with each other, challenging stereotypes and learning about, embracing and celebrating difference.

This is Kind Kai our Value hero for Kindness. The children at our nursery school strive to be like Kai and are friendly, caring and helpful. They show consideration, good manners and random acts of kindness. We teach the children about: Self-awareness: the ability to recognise and understand moods and emotions, and how they affect others. Self-regulation: the ability to con and moods, and to think before acting. Internal (or intrinsic) motivation: being driven to pursue goals for personal reasons, rather than for some kind of reward. Empathy: the ability to recognise and understand others’ motivations, which is essential for building and leading teams successfully. Social skills: the ability to manage relationships and build networks.
